On April 19, 2023 the family of Melissa Ortiz-Rodriguez held a vigil to mark the 10th anniversary since her disappearance. Numerous community members including the Mayor and Council members came out to show support for the family. Melissa was last seen by her husband, Jose, on Friday April 19, 2013. She was suppose to travel to Newark, NJ to spend time with her friends but never arrived. Jose initially cooperated with the investigation but has since retained an attorney and has not provided any assistance in attempting to locate Melissa.
